The Colorado Convention Center Expansion Project includes a rooftop addition of 200,000 SF to the existing Convention Center with an 80,000 SF state of the art ballroom, pre-function space, exterior terrace, and a large commercial kitchen. In one of the more complicated overbuild projects in North America, the construction of the addition was done over existing Convention Center space below. New floor trusses were designed to support a crane that erected both the new floor framing and roof framing. The future addition was considered in the original design, eliminating the need for costly upgrades to the existing building framing and foundations. In addition, sustainability features include adaptive building re-use, high-strength structural steel, snow studies to reduce the need for snow shelves for drifted snow, added solar panels to the existing steel roof, and LEED-EB certification.”

Conference registrants that have signed up for the tour will meet at 2:00 pm at the Champa Commons Community event space in the Colorado Conference Center for a presentation before the tour begins.
